Tutor System
Every new foreign student is assigned a graduate student from Graduate School of Engineering as a Tutor. The tutors role is to provide extracurricular coaching on a personal level for the new student. In addition, the tutor can also act as a “sempai”, which means “an older, more experienced friend”, who can help the new international student form networks and friendships that can benefit his academic and general life at Nagoya University.
This system is very useful for foreign students. We encourage you to take full advantage of the Tutor Service.
Examples of the services that tutors have been providing for new International Students include:
- Study related advice
- Learning the Japanese language
- Help with starting life in Japan and the necessary documentations
- Introduction to Japanese culture
- Other
Tutors provide the service for a total 60 hours (30 hours each semester).
